DESCRIPTION:THE WIZARD OF OZ\n85th Anniversary\n  \n“There’s no place like home\, there’s no place like home.” \n\nAugust 21     7:00 PM \nTICKETS AVAILABLE HERE \nThe Friends of the Bohm Theatre\, in partnership with the Greater Albion Chamber of\nCommerce & Visitors Center\, invite you to relive a moment of cinematic marvel\, as they\ncelebrate the 85th Anniversary of the American classic\, “The Wizard of Oz\,” on \n2024 is a year of anniversaries for Albion’s beloved Bohm Theatre\, celebrating its own\n95th anniversary\, and the 10th anniversary of the reopening after its restoration. “We felt\nthe screening of this iconic film was a great way to celebrate our theatre\,” said\nExecutive Director\, Shannon Aikins\, “welcoming the community into the equally iconic\nBohm for this fun\, family-friendly event seemed perfect as the theatre continues to fulfill\nits mission of providing a vibrant gathering place for diverse audiences\, nurturing the\ncreative spirit\, exploring new ideas\, and fostering cultural understanding through film\,\nperforming arts\, and community events. I’ve seen the movie quite a few times\,” Aikins\nremarked\, “but never on the big screen\, I can’t wait!”\nThe Wizard of Oz 85th Anniversary Celebration includes a costume contest under the\ntheatre’s original marquis beginning at 6:15 pm\, with a grand prize of a hot air balloon\nride for two being provided by Reflections Hot Air Balloon Team. Other prizes include a\npuzzle and game package worth $100 and an Albion\, Michigan prize valued at $50. “We\nencourage people to come dressed as their favorite character\, we can’t wait to see\nDorothy\, Glinda\, Scarecrow\, and even the Flying Monkeys represented.” Wizard of Oz\ncharacter cut outs will be located at several locations in downtown Albion for fun photo\nopportunities before the screening. A full list of the locations will be made available\nsoon and shared on the theatre’s Facebook and Instagram pages\, as well as the\nChamber’s website and social media pages.\nThe Bohm Theatre’s Wizard of Oz Celebration and Screening are made possible by\nseveral community sponsors. “We could not provide these types of events without our\noutstanding community partners and their support\,” said Aikins\, “we want to thank the\nGreater Albion Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau\, Knauf Insulation\, The Body\nShop\, Haas Trucking\, Inc.\, Barbour Heating and Cooling\, Anna’s House of Flowers\, John and Jan Shedd and\nDancing Dogs Bakery for serving as sponsors of the Celebration.”\nThe Celebration screening of the Wizard of Oz is being offered at matinee pricing of\n$5.00\, and the Ford Accessibility Discount will be available. The discount provides a\n50% discount on most movies and live events for individuals 60 and over\, as well as\nindividuals on Medicaid or the EBT Program. Tickets are available online\, but the Ford\nDiscount can only be utilized when purchasing tickets at the box office.\nReleased on August 25\, 1939\, and produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer\, the film was\none of the earliest major technicolor pictures\, and you will be able to enjoy all magic\,\nsplendor\, and beauty of the land of Oz\, the Emerald City\, and the yellow brick road on\nthe big screen at the Bohm.
