Kids Free Friday Film Festival at the Bohm Theatre

Albion, Michigan, June 1, 2016 – For it’s second year, the Kids First Free Friday Film Festival is returning to the Bohm Theatre! This program provides a safe and affordable cultural event each Friday at 11:00 AM during June and August. It is free for children under 18 years of age. This year we will present the best in award winning international animation films with particular emphasis on animation techniques.

Kids Free Film Schedule:

June 10th – When Marnie Was There
Upon being sent to live with relatives in the countryside; an emotionally distant adolescent girl becomes obsessed with an abandoned mansion and infatuated with a girl who lives there; a girl who may or may not be real.

June 17th – Space Jam
Michael Jordan agrees to help the Looney Tunes play a basketball game vs. alien slavers to determine their freedom.

June 24th – Shaun the Sheep
When Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun, he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

July 1st – Zarafa
A grandfather tells his grand kids the story of Maki, a young boy who escapes from slave traders, befriends a giraffe (the title character), cross the desert, meet a pirate, and a few other things on a trip that takes him from Africa to Paris.

July 8th – Fantastic Mr. Fox
An urbane fox cannot resist returning to his farm raiding ways and then must help his community survive the farmers’ retaliation.

July 15th – Hoodwinked
Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf, the Woodsman, and Granny all tell the police the events that lead up to their encounter.

July 22nd – Boy and the World
A little boy goes on an adventurous quest in search of his father.

July 29th – The Prophet
Exiled artist and poet Mustafa embarks on a journey home with his housekeeper and her daughter; together the trio must evade the authorities who fear that the truth in Mustafa’s words will incite rebellion.

August 5th – Tales of the Night
Tales of the Night weaves together six exotic fables each unfolding in a unique locale, from Tibet, to medieval Europe, to the Land of the Dead. From the imagination of internationally renowned animator Michel Ocelot.

August 12th – Peter Pan
The Darling family children receive a visit from Peter Pan, who takes them to Never Never Land where an ongoing war with the evil Pirate Captain Hook is taking place.

It promises to be a summer full inexpensive and culturally fun animation!
